Role of technical crew members who assist in making feature films

A technical crew of film consists of the group of people who are hired by the production house for the production of film or motion picture. Director: The film director is responsible basically to overlook all the creative aspects of the film along with content creating and the plot of film. As the name suggests, he directs the actors’ performances, selects and organizes the shooting location of the film and manages technical aspects like shooting camera positioning, lighting and timing of action and sound. When the director utilizes a great deal of power in shooting, he or she also assists the producer. In fact, some directors also work as a producer apart from working on direction.

Stunt coordinator: When most films demand stunts and involve duplicates and stunt performers, the stunt coordinators arranges the casting and stunts and they assist the director closely.

Script supervisor: Also known as continuity person, the job of script supervisor is to keep track on the script parts to be played and make the deviations between what parts have been filmed actually and what have appeared in the script. In this way, the script supervisor also keeps an eye on blocking, props and other essential details to ensure that the continuity is going on from each shot and scene. The notes of supervisor are sent to the editor who will continue the process of editing. The script supervisor also works on set with the director.

When short films cannot run longer than 15 minutes, the feature films can run according to producer’s needs. One of the films from the category of Un Certain Regard was around 5 ½ hours long.

In the category of Out of Competition, the films are screened as per the likes of selection committee of Cannes Film Festival, but they cannot meet the criteria of competition. On the other hand, the films of Un Certain Regard are screened of first-time makers along with the progressive trends and screening techniques used by the directors.

The producers of the film didn’t take actors from Mumbai because they didn’t want. With lots of Bangaloreans, Station is the dark thriller shot entirely in Bangalore by RED MX Camera. When it comes to the story, the film revolves around three psychotic assassins who were common men with regular jobs and they get involved in illegal acts at night. Karan Says, “Without the support, it would not has been possible to complete this great project”. Despite of having tighter budget, they have understanding professionals who didn’t charged extra for their services. They also got help from students of various media colleges.

They have to stay connected with the sources available from Mumbai. In addition, they have to make the film within tight budget and with no lack of anything which plays a great role in production of this film. Station is shot in RED MX which is the special camera used in shooting of films. This was quite not possible to make the whole film in Bangalore because there are some sources only available in Mumbai because this is the hub of film industry. In this way, they were decided to keep going with the project in Bangalore because they cannot move to Mumbai by packing up everything. Finally against many challenges, they successfully make the movie and it is set to release this year. However, the release date hasn’t decided yet.
